The non-profit organisation
'INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF CORFU' was founded
in June 2008 with the objective of planning, organising
and managing the cultural events in the Region
of Corfu that constitute the "International
Corfu Festival". The aim is to demonstrate
the richness of the local musical heritage but
also to include music of a contemporary nature
in a festival production entitled "Ionian
Concerts". The "Ionian Concerts"
combine the familiar presence of local musical
groups such as choirs, philharmonic societies
and others, with international artists from Europe,
Asia and the United States, who participate thanks
to the international academic relations of the
Ionian University.
Organising
Committee
The
Organisation is governed by a 7- member committee,
which approves the artistic programming of the
Festival and co-ordinates and monitors its realization.
The Organising Committee consists of three representatives
of the Ionian University, two members of the Corfu
Local Government and two representatives of the
Municipality of Corfu. The Ionian University is
responsible for the realisation of the artistic
programming and the co-ordination of the activities
of the artists and artists' groups, and for this
purpose it designates an Artistic Committee.
The Artistic Committee carries out the organizational
planning ( concerts dates, venues), deals with
contractual agreements and submits the artistic
programming to the Organising Committee, which
has the responsibility of approving it.
